
Six people were killed and one injured in an attack on a kindergarten in southern China’s Liangjiang on Monday, a municipal spokeswoman said, according to France Presse.
“Among the injured are a teacher, two parents and three students (…), and the suspect was detained,” she said.
A 25-year-old man is suspected of an attack on a kindergarten in China’s Guangdong province that killed six people and wounded one, police said, according to Reuters.
The media reported that the attack in Lianjiang County was carried out with the use of white weapons. The suspect, surnamed Wu, a native of Liangjiang, was detained, police said.
Unverified images appeared on social networks they showed shocking scenes, with the bodies of the victims at the entrance to the kindergarten.
The incident became a hot topic on Weibo, China’s main social media platform, with 130 million views in the first few hours after the incident.
In China, citizens are strictly prohibited from owning firearms, and there has been a surge in injuries in recent years.
