If the West wants Russia not to win in Ukraine, it is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table and come to an agreement, Belarusian President Oleksandr Lukashenko said on Thursday during a meeting with the press, both Belarusian and foreign, reports the Official Belarusian Agency BelTA.
“If you don’t want Russia’s victory, sit down at the negotiating table and come to an agreement!” Lukashenko said, answering a French journalist’s question, Agerpres reports.
When asked if he expects a Russian victory in Ukraine, the Belarusian leader replied: “I am counting on it.”
In addition, Lukashenko stated that it is important not to miss the moment of negotiations, because the situation at the front is changing very quickly.
“Powerful Russia, surprising no one, is ready to negotiate with Ukraine. But if tomorrow the Russians crush these (Ukrainian) forces and see an opportunity to attack south to Transnistria, what will happen then? Will Russia then sit down at the negotiating table? This is unlikely. The situation will change, and the approaches will be different,” said Lukashenko, whose statements were published on the website of the BELTA news agency.
Therefore, according to him, peace in Ukraine should be negotiated with Kyiv, which should sit down at the negotiating table without preconditions, reports the Spanish news agency EFE.
