An attacker from Tajikistan who on Friday, he fatally wounded two people at Chisinau airportdied in hospital on Monday, three days after the attack, police said TV8.md.

According to the police, a 43-year-old man was left unconscious after being wounded during a shootout at the airport.

A 30-day arrest warrant was previously issued in his name.

According to Ziarul de Gardă, the man’s name was Rustam Ashurov, and he was being investigated for the kidnapping of the bank’s vice president.

The Prosecutor General’s Office announced an investigation into “failure or improper performance of duties by persons involved in airport security.”

President Maia Sandu declared Tuesday a day of mourning for the victims of the shooting and awarded the dead with posthumous medals.
