A 30-day arrest warrant was previously issued in his name.

We will remind, on Friday, after he was banned from entering the Republic of Moldova, a man took a gun from a border guard and fired several bullets. Later, the aggressor was neutralized and handcuffed by special forces.

According to Ziarul de Gardă, the man’s name was Rustam Ashurov, and he was being investigated for the kidnapping of the bank’s vice president.

Ex-cop, not a member of Wagner

The head of the IGP, Viorel Cherneutsianu, stated that at the time of entering the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the man was not listed “in any search information system” and was not a member of “Wagner” or any terrorist group.

“He is being investigated for kidnapping. He is a common criminal who committed a similar crime in 2013 on the territory of Tajikistan, for which he served his sentence and was released early from prison. He is a former member of the Tajik police who worked for 7 years in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but he was fired precisely because of the manners and criminal actions he committed,” Viorel told Cherneutseanu.

The Prosecutor General’s Office announced an investigation into “failure or improper performance of duties by persons involved in airport security.”

President Maia Sandu declared Tuesday a day of mourning for the victims of the shooting and awarded the dead with posthumous medals.
