The withdrawal of the Wagner group from Moscow’s military campaign in Ukraine does not affect Russia’s combat potential, said the chairman of the defense committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Andriy Kartapolov, reports the Russian state agency TASS with reference to Reuters.

“There is no threat of reducing the combat potential, both in the medium and long term,” said Kartapolov.

An influential parliamentarian told the state-run TASS agency that the Russian regular army was able to repulse Ukraine’s new offensive without Wagner’s mercenaries.

“There will be no new wave of mobilization,” said the head of the State Duma defense commission.

Kartapolov noted that during Prigozhin’s one-day uprising, there were no mercenaries on the front line, and currently there are cadres at the front to replace them.

On June 24, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, launched an armed rebellion against the Russian military leadership, embarrassing the Kremlin.

24 hours after the beginning of the uprising, he abandoned the offensive on Moscow and made an agreement with the Kremlin, according to which he accepted exile in Belarus.
