Justice Minister Alina Gorgiu said Thursday night on Digi 24 that the Liberals have enough well-trained people in the administration to win the capital city hall, but she claims it was not discussed within the party, according to News.ro.

Chuku would be the solution

Asked if it would have been possible to choose an option other than Nikushor Dan, as in the last election, Gorgiou said that in supporting him, “the philosophy was more to lose Firea than to win the NLP candidate.” According to Gorgiu, the evaluation of potential candidates will be done by the Bucharest organization, but she personally considers the Mayor of Sector 6, Cyprian Chuka, suitable.

Thursday night on Digi 24, Alina Gorghiu was asked if the PNL will go with Nikusor Dan in the local elections in Bucharest in 2024, or if she will support Gabriela Firea, who will run for the PSD.

“It is not even established at the moment (…) It is difficult to exclude something in today’s politics, especially when you work in the right-left government coalition, PNL-PSD, but I tell you that we have enough good people prepared from the point of view an administration that can win the capital,” Gorgiou said.

It is about the mayor of sector 6.

“Ciprian Chuku is a mayor who has shown that he knows how to lead, he was less involved in politics, but from sector 6 he managed to make an emblem in these 3 years of administration,” Gorgiou also confirmed.

Also, when asked whether the liberals may no longer support Nikusor Dan, as in the last election, Gorgui clarified: “Why not? The mayor’s activities are evaluated by the Bucharest organization. His rule was a opportunistic choice made by the former president of the National Liberal Party. The philosophy then was to lose Firea more than to win the PNL candidate. He chose a non-partisan decision.”

The liberal justice minister says he would prefer a “liberal, not an import solution” for Bucharest.
