“Today, the SBU and special forces detained the person who coordinated this terrorist attack,” Zelenskyy said in his daily evening speech.
“Whoever helps Russian terrorists destroy lives deserves the maximum punishment,” the Ukrainian leader warned, warning that “there may still be people under the rubble.”
The perpetrators of these attacks “are people without humanity”, he continued, considering such actions equivalent to “treason”, which is punishable by life imprisonment.
According to the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office, a restaurant and several apartments, shops, cars, a post office and several other buildings were destroyed on Tuesday evening in Kramatorsk in the east of Ukraine.
“Russian missiles killed 11 of our fellow citizens, including three children,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday evening. “More than 60 people were injured,” he said.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that it hit the “temporary command post” of the Ukrainian military.
A major railway junction and location of military posts, Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region is regularly bombarded by Russian forces.
The largest attack occurred at a train station in April 2022, which killed 61 people and injured more than 160. The attack came weeks after the start of the Russian invasion, when many civilians were trying to leave the city.
