The French Formula 1 team, which is piloted by Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, announced on Monday that it has received new investors, including American actor Ryan Reynolds and his partner Rob McElhenney.

The group will invest 200 million euros in Alpine Racing, a division that regroups the Formula 1 racing activities of the French car group Renault.

“An investment group formed by Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments has acquired a 24% stake in the team, increasing its value to more than 900 million euros,” said a statement published on the Formula 1 website.

Alpine is not the first sports team in which this group has invested. Before investing in Formula One, they had already bought shares in the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, as well as Toulouse FC and Wrexham AFC.

“This partnership will accelerate Alpine’s development by diversifying its revenue streams and increasing the value of the brand,” said Luca de Meo, CEO of the Renault group, adding that Alpine’s goal is “to become a title contender.”

American actor Michael B. Jordan is also involved as a co-investor. The American star has already established himself well in the world of sports, having a stake in the consortium that owns the English football club Bournemouth, writes News.ro.
