The State Duma is working on a law on the regulation of the Wagner Group, reports the chairman of the defense committee Andriy Kartapolov. CNN.

There has been much speculation about the future of the Wagner mercenary group since its boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, launched a rebellion on Friday, only to end it on Saturday night, after which he has not been heard from.

“The fate of the “Wagner” PMC is not determined, but there is no need to ban it, because it is a combat-ready unit and the question is for its leadership, not for the fighters,” Kartapolov told the Russian publication “Vedomosti”.

Kartapolov’s statements echo those made by Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov, who announced on Saturday that an agreement had been reached regarding the Wagner PMC mercenaries, namely that some of them, those who wish to do so, will later sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense. , but this applies to those who did not participate in Prigozhin’s “march of justice”.

It will be recalled that on Saturday Yevgeny Prigozhin confirmed that he agrees to end the uprising in Russia on the condition that the mercenaries’ safety is guaranteed. According to Peskov, the criminal case opened by the FSB on Friday will be closed, and Prigozhin should move to Belarus.

Wagner’s fighters who took part in his “march for justice” will also not be brought to court for recognition of their previous service in Russia.
