Supporting the social vocation of cults, combating discrimination based on religious criteria, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and anti-Christianity, as well as any form of religiously fueled extremist promotion, promoting religious freedom as a fundamental dimension of partnership between the state and civil society included in religious cults, represent directions, which I propose to follow together with the SSC team as part of the ongoing dialogue between the Romanian state and the cults in Romania.
Cults are not only important factors of social peace, but also true institutions of culture, charity and education. They preserve the cultural, spiritual and moral heritage that is absolutely necessary for any democratic society.
I am glad that in Romania there is a consolidated harmony between different religions and confessions, a harmony that I propose to preserve and nurture by starting at the level of the State Secretariat for Religious Affairs a platform for interreligious and interconfessional dialogue.
I wish and will strive to continue and restore the activities of a respectable institution with more than 160 years of history, which aims to support religious life in Romania, to ensure correct decision-making and financial transparency, to protect and promote the rich religious heritage, to properly inform the public about the general data of religious life in Romania, support projects of cults in Romanian communities in the diaspora and explain the role of religious pluralism in building national and European identity and consciousness.
I undertake this responsibility as Secretary of State for Religious Affairs in a democratic way, cultivating continuous dialogue and religious freedom and based on my professional experience in the field of governance and constant efforts to know the needs and specifics of each religious cult in our country.
In addition to all this, because I fully believe in its value and effectiveness, I propose to formulate and encourage a culture of authentic inter-institutional dialogue that includes at its table, especially when crisis situations require, both representatives of the state and religions, as well as representatives of all registers civil society, close to the question of religious life in Romania”.
The State Secretariat for Cults is coordinated by the Prime Minister of the Government of Romania and deals with relations between the state and cults, as well as financial support for the projects of religious cults in our country, acting continuously for a long time. more than 160 years,” the new State Secretary for Cults Ciprian Olinici told HotNews.ro
