Everything happened the next day after the defeat of the national team coached by the French technician against Belarus (1:2) in Group I of the preliminary tournament EURO-2024, which also includes Romania.

Alain Zires is no longer the coach of Kosovo

Kosovo, ranked 107th by FIFA, have had a poor start to their EURO 2024 qualifiers and the FFC announced in a statement that they have parted ways with Alain Giress. Such a decision was made “by mutual agreement”, the body reported.

Currently, the 70-year-old Frenchman came to the helm of “Dardanet” in February 2022. His record, deemed insufficient by the FFC, is 4 wins, 6 draws and 4 losses in 14 matches. Kosovo is 5th in Group I with 3 points. The group leader is Switzerland with 10 points, followed by Romania with 8 points.

On Friday, Kosovo played to a 0-0 draw with Romania at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium in Pristina. On Monday, the team coached by Giress was defeated by Belarus 2-1 in Budapest on a neutral ground.

Kosovo started the qualifiers promisingly, 1-1 away to Israel on March 25, but three days later they were unexpectedly thwarted at home by Andorra, the match still ended 1-1, according to Agerpres.
