
According to the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the dropout rate in secondary schools and vocational education increased to 2.1% in the 2021-2022 school year from 1.7% the year before. Indicators of 1.3% in primary education and 1% in secondary education remained the same.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, the school population in the national education system was 3.472 million pupils and students, which is 23,000 less than in the previous academic year.
This is despite last year’s report, which covers the previous academic year, showing an increase of 1,200.
On the other hand, the number of graduates amounted to 503,500 pupils and students, an increase of 5.7% compared to the previous academic/university year. The previous report showed a decrease of 7.5%.
The teaching staff of the education system in the 2022-2023 academic year amounted to 240,700 people. Thus, the average ratio of the size of the school population and the number of teaching staff was 14 pupils/students per teaching staff.
Therefore, there is a decrease compared to the previous academic year, when there were 15 pupils/students per teaching staff.
The majority of teachers are women, in vocational and technical education their share is 68.3%, in pre-school and preschool education – 99.7%. In the pre-university part, the percentage is 82.8%.
If we look at pupils/students, in 2022-2023 female graduates prevailed – 265,000, which is 52.8%.
The state of secondary school graduates showed that about half attended courses in the theoretical direction (52.1% of the total number of graduates), 39% – in the technological direction, and 8.9% attended courses in vocational and technical universities.
130,800 graduates took the bachelor’s exam, including 116,300 graduates of 2022 (88.9%). 99,300 people (75.9%) were recognized as successful, including 93,900 people (80.7%) from the 2022 promotion.
