
Warner Bros.’ latest superhero film, “The Flash,” debuted at number one at the North American box office, but has disappointed earnings for one of the genre’s most anticipated feature films this year, AFP and Agerpres reported.
The film, with an estimated budget of US$200 million, grossed US$55 million from Friday to Sunday in the United States and Canada, below industry expectations of US$60 million to US$80 million.
IN FlashEzra Miller returns to the role of Barry Allen and uses his superpowers to travel through time in hopes of saving his family, but he inevitably changes the future and is forced to turn to other superheroes than the ones he imagined.
This film has been highly anticipated by fans also because it marks the return of the iconic Michael Keaton as Batman after an absence of more than 30 years.
Below are the earnings expectations for another superhero movie in March, “Shazam! Wrath of the Gods”underperformed analysts’ and producers’ expectations despite debuting at No. 1 at the box office.
Disappointment for another new record: With $29.5 million, the animated film Elementalfrom Disney, which takes place in Element City, where residents associated with the four elements (fire, water, earth and air) live together, takes the second place on the podium, but at a long distance from the usual Pixar performances.

In fourth place is the seventh film of the franchise transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beastsreceived 20 million dollars.
The fifth place is occupied by the Disney film little mermaidthe live-action remake of the classic, grossed $11.6 million in its fourth week in theaters.
This new film, which stars an actress of color as Ariel for the first time, also debuted at the top of the North American box office after its release in late March, but overseas it grossed less than expected for a Disney-branded production.
