“Since 2016, the increased number of bears in Sekkerland has increasingly threatened people’s lives and their property. For the past 905 days, the UDMR has worked to protect life and property and to solve the human-bear coexistence problem in the long term, respectively, to put the management of the bear population in Romania on a solid professional footing, he wrote. , on Thursday evening, on Facebook, Tanczos Barna.

The former Minister of Environmental Protection reports that he has signed an order that provides quotas for the prevention of brown bears.

“Today, on my last day as Secretary of the Environment, I signed an executive order that finalizes a package of laws to manage the bear population. Based on this, we again approved quotas for the prevention and intervention of the bear population: 426 specimens can be removed for the purpose of prevention and 55 specimens for the purpose of intervention,” the former minister also specified.

According to him, the minister’s order has been sent to the Romanian Academy for approval, after which it will be published in the Official Gazette.

On May 4, Tanchos Barna announced that he had discussed with specialists and representatives of environmental public organizations the order to establish quotas for the prevention of brown bears and said that “human life is above all else.”

Agent Greene’s representatives, however, argued that the order under discussion is grossly flawed from a legal, scientific and moral standpoint and would exacerbate the problem rather than solve it.

The organization claims that the order is aimed at shooting bears, mainly large males, “which is in the interests of the hunting industry.”
