Former President Donald Trump gave a speech at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, in which he criticized the administration of President Joe Biden for impeachment over classified documents.
“Today we witnessed the most vicious and disgusting abuse of power in the history of our country. “It’s sad to see a corrupt sitting president arrest his main political opponent on false and fabricated charges that he and many other presidents are guilty of, right in the middle of a presidential election that he’s going to lose by a wide margin,” Trump said.
Donald Trump called the federal charges against him “interference in the election and another attempt to falsify and steal the presidential election.”
Trump has said he has the right to look through inboxes and separate personal files from government documents.
He claimed that he had not had a chance to see all the materials transferred from the White House before FBI agents raided his Mar-a-Lago residence last year.
Former US President Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to all 37 charges related to alleged mishandling of classified documents, CNN reports.
Trump’s lawyers asked for a jury trial during the former president’s arraignment Tuesday in federal court in Miami. “We are certainly not pleading guilty,” Trump’s attorney, Todd Blanche, told the judge.
Before the indictment, sheriff’s deputies registered the former president in a database and made electronic copies of his fingerprints. He was not even photographed, as the defendant is easily recognizable. The registration process took about 10 minutes. The former president – the first to face criminal charges at the federal level – was not handcuffed because he was not in New York in early April, where Donald Trump faces another trial.
