More than 300 employees of the district emergency hospital “Mavromat” in Botoshan organized a spontaneous protest on Friday morning against the decision of the management of the medical unit to reduce allowances. The protest took place shortly after the hospital management decided to cut some allowances in order to comply with Article 25 of Law 153/2017 on the payment of staff from public funds.
The president of the Botosani County Council, Doina Federovic, met on Friday with the medical staff of the Mavromati County Hospital, who protested the decision of the management of the medical facility to reduce certain categories of allowances due to exceeding the threshold provided for in Article 25 of Law 153/2017 on staff salaries paid from public funds.
Representatives of the medical staff, unions and management of the district hospital decided to hold several rounds of discussions starting Monday to determine ways to grant the raise in accordance with the legal provisions.
“I have never campaigned and I will not campaign for a decrease in the income of employees, regardless of the field of activity, but no one can break the law. The granting of these increases must be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the remuneration of personnel paid from public funds. Currently, Botosani District Emergency Hospital “Mavromati” is one of the few hospitals in the country that provides these allowances close to the maximum limit. They will not be eliminated, but together the discussion partners will seek solutions that will be provided in the highest possible percentage, but without exceeding the threshold established by law,” said Doina Federovici, president of CJ Botoșani, as quoted by Agerpres.
Chairman CJ indicated that the resignation of the chief is not the solution to the problem, the legal framework is the one that restricts promotion, not the management of the county hospital.
The protest took place shortly after the hospital management decided to cut some allowances in order to comply with Article 25 of Law 153/2017 on the payment of staff from public funds.
The normative act stipulates that “the amount of allowances, compensations, additional payments, bonuses, bonuses and additional payments, including for meals and vacations, provided cumulatively according to the general estimate for each creditor, cannot exceed 30% of the basic salary, official salary . balances/post salaries, balances in grades/salaries according to existing professional grade, gradations and command balances/command salaries, hiring allowances and monthly cash allowances, as the case may be”.
“People took this news unexpectedly. It was necessary to conduct preliminary discussions with each department so that people understood the situation in the hospital and accepted it. In these conditions, no one agrees to suddenly reduce their income, which everyone expected to pay for life and everyday life,” said the leader of the Sanitas Union, Liya Temchuk.
Hospital employees have demanded the resignation of chief Doin Cabe, who has been accused of mismanagement. For his part, manager Doina Kaba says that “I have a resignation on the table. I serve it with great pleasure.”
