
Gaps in the training of station chiefs, mistakes and omissions on the part of the deceased station chief Larisa and the drivers of the Intercity 62 passenger train, as well as violations of the provisions of the legislation on railway transport, the Department of Safety and Interoperability in Railway Transport of the Russian Academy of Sciences finds in its conclusion a tragic accident in Tempi, since The Authority has already invited OSE and Hellenic Train to a hearing. In particular, the RAS ex officio investigation into the OSE revealed irregularities in the process of training station chiefs, as well as the actions of the fatal station chief on the evening of February 28, which – among other things – led to a fatal accident. Initially, the conclusion indicated that the relevant certificate of successful completion of the training program was not provided to the head of the station of the Larisa railway station, and the training services of the station head in question were not certified. At the same time, the RAS finds, among other things, that proper and complete basic training of traffic department personnel is not documented, “since it cannot be concluded with certainty from the analysis of the data that the station manager in question completed the prescribed second cycle of theoretical training (177 hours )”. Also, the signed attendance sheets of trainees during the first cycle of theoretical training under the Thessaloniki program for specific dates in August, September and October 2022 were not clearly indicated. train IC 62 (Athens – Thessaloniki) at the exit from SS Larisa and did not specify whether the change of tracks on which the passenger train passed was arranged.
