NORSAR, Norway’s nuclear test ban monitoring organization, said seismic signals indicated an explosion at the Nova Kakhovka dam at 02:54 a.m. on June 6, making it highly likely that kinetic action was used to collapse the dam, according to Translation of war.

The approximate magnitude is from 1 to 2.

“Data from regional seismic stations show clear signals on Tuesday, June 6 at 2:54 local time (01:54 Norwegian time). The time and place (position 46.7776, 33.37) coincide with media reports about the collapse of the Kakhovskaya dam. The signals indicate that there was an explosion,” Norsar writes.

Ukraine blamed Russia, which has controlled the facility since the February 2022 invasion, for undermining the dam.

Russia, in turn, accused Ukraine of destroying the dam to hide the “failure” on the battlefield.

Drone footage published by The Guardian shows the scale of the disaster caused by the breach of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam across the Dnipro River in Ukraine’s Kherson region, flooding entire villages.

It will be recalled that on Tuesday morning, the dam of the Nova Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, built in 1965, which is of great importance for the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, collapsed.
