The criminal organization involved in the illegal provision of pay TV services was liquidated after an investigation by the Patras Sub-Directory of Security.

Three men were arrested in the case, four of their accomplices are still on the wanted list. Members of the organization have placed on the market decoders for the illegal retransmission of subscriber channels, while the illegal financial benefit they received exceeds 1,233,000 euros.

A criminal case has been initiated against seven defendants for specific offenses related to the creation and participation in a criminal organization, violation of intellectual property legislation and violation of legislation on the prevention and suppression of money laundering.

As a result of the preliminary investigative work of the police officers of the Patras Security Directorate, it turned out that members of the criminal organization over the past five years have been selling decoders for illegal retransmission of subscriber channels, using specialized technical means, illegal software, as well as special decoders.

As a result of further investigation by the police of the Patras Security Subdivision, it turned out that the members of the criminal organization, which recruited a clientele of 1,370 people in Greek territory, managed to obtain illegal financial benefits totaling more than 1,233,000 euros, while at the same time causing financial losses to beneficiary companies in the amount of EUR 6,576,000.

During searches in the homes of members of the criminal organization and in their vehicles, the police of the Patras Security Directorate discovered and confiscated the following:

• EUR 40,966,

• 6 decoders, 2 computers and a tablet

• 3 mobile phones,

• customer control panel,

In addition, the police found a number of conversations in online applications related to the aforementioned activities, both between members of the criminal organization and between participants and customers.

Those arrested will be taken to the District Attorney of Athens.
