A UK woman who claims Andrew Tate strangled and raped her after they went on a date in a Luton nightclub in 2014. She joined three other complainants who announced that they are filing a civil suit against Andrew Tait, who is seeking compensation, The Guardian reports, News.ro reports.
The young woman, now 30, was studying at university in 2014 when she said she met Tate while walking in her hometown of Luton. “At first he was very kind and charming and I went home with him,” the woman said.
“While we were having sex, he started choking me and choked me so hard that I lost consciousness. I thought I was going to die. When I woke up, he was still raping me. It’s hard to talk about it, because it’s so disturbing, but that’s how it was,” the woman said.
She said she decided to go public after reading the stories of “other women who had the courage to speak out about Tate”. It’s easy to talk about it when you know you’re not alone,” she said.
“At first I think I was in denial after it happened… I was young and probably blamed myself a bit. More recently, and especially after he became famous, it became impossible to avoid him, because he was and is everywhere,” the girl admitted.
According to law firm McCue Jury & Partners, the aim of the civil action is to seek “justice, accountability and compensation for Tate’s victims” and to encourage “a UK criminal investigation into Tate’s crimes in the hope that he will be prosecuted and convicted in the UK in addition to of the charges brought against him in Romania.”
Four women aged in their 20s and 30s filed a civil action against Tate for alleged crimes committed between 2013 and 2016, when he was still living in the UK. Complaints in the civil process relate to bodily injury and psychological injury caused by alleged violent sexual and physical abuse, as well as coercive control.
Andrew Tate is under house arrest in Romania
A campaign on the Crowdjustice website to support legal action against Andrew Tate in the UK has received more than 500 donations totaling almost £15,000, The Guardian reports.
Andrew Tate, 36, a British-American influencer with more than 6.5 million Twitter followers, was placed under house arrest in Romania in April after a court overturned a prosecutor’s request to arrest him. Along with his brother and two women from Romania, Tate is accused of rape, human trafficking and organized crime, all charges they deny.
Tate officials did not respond to requests for comment after a fourth woman publicly accused him of sexual harassment in the UK, according to The Guardian.
When the civil complaint was first announced, his spokesman said that “Andrew Tate strongly denies these allegations, of which he knew nothing, and is upset that the media chooses to act as a proxy for women’s opportunistic attempts to make money.”
