The whole world, an era significant for the development of the Greek theater, suddenly acquired bitter symbolism. Nonika Galina, who would have turned 85 on June 8, died on Friday, June 2. He served the theater from a young age, he identified himself with it, he said, the theater is my life. Companion for most of her theatrical career with Aleko Aleksandraki, with the Ilisia theater and a European education, Nonika Galinia was an elegant, kind and dynamic woman who passionately served her beloved cause in her life. Moreover, her identity, her education, her commitment to the next goal every time were the elements that determined not only her path in her creative life, but also her relationship with a wider audience, in which she received great recognition already in the first post-war decades. .

Nonika Galinea has come a long way: in the independent theater, where, together with Alekos Alexandrakis, she wrote many pages of theatrical emotions, in the National Theatre, the Athens Concert Hall, in London, where she also performed at Covent Garden (2003). Establishing the Galineas-Alexandrakis troupe shortly after 1970, he achieved a dominant position in the decades of the 70s and 80s until the early 90s, with quality performances from the European and American repertoire. From boulevards and comedies to contemporary dramas, from Georges Feydeau to Friedrich Dürenmatt and from Neil Simon to Edward Albee and Eugene O’Neill.

A translator of many plays herself, she forged special bonds with her audience, but what is interesting is that both in her early days, in the 1960s, and in the last years of her career, she did not hesitate to confront great directors and the shrine of stage names. In the Art Theatre, in the troupe of Dimitris Mirat, Alexis Minotis and Katina Paxinos, Dimitris Horn, Antigone Valakou, Anna Synodin, in the Amphitheater of Spyros Evangeliatos, in the National Theatre, in Herodium, in Epidaurus… Nonika Galinea has collaborated for more than 50 years with almost all theater troupe.

It expressed the world of codes and the scale of values ​​identified with a significant part of society. Although her personal and professional relationship with Alekos Alexandrakis was critical to her development, she herself was an actress with a strong personality, a quality that was highlighted by her many collaborations throughout her long theatrical career.

She was indefatigable, diligent, with a passion for the theater and quality writing.
