Captain Andriy Pidlisny said that when the dam collapsed early Tuesday morning, “no one from the Russian side was able to escape. All the regiments that the Russians had on that side were flooded.”

Ukrainians would see with the help of drones how the Russians were captured

Podlisny told CNN that he believes the Russians deliberately attacked the dam to disrupt Ukrainian forces’ plans for an upcoming offensive.

“Around three o’clock in the morning, the enemy blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP in order to raise the water level and flood the left bank of the Dnieper, as well as the settlements located there. And to prevent the further advancement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said.

Podlisny explained that the terrain around the river means that the Russian army, located on the east bank, was seriously affected by the breach of the dam. His unit could monitor developments with the help of drones and troops on the ground.

“Left Bank [est] it is lower than the right bank, so it is more full of water. Enemy positions right on the river bank were also flooded. You must understand that the enemy’s positions are not only trenches, but also ordinary civilian houses where they lived,” said Podlisny.
