According to statistics, Romanians buy more than a million televisions every year. For the most part, they are smart and have a large diagonal. Experts note that quick and careless cleaning of the 4K TV screen can do more harm than good to the device, which has a considerable price.

An expert at British manufacturer Mitchell & Brown says using the wrong type of cloth or spraying the wrong cleaning solution on a 4K TV screen can permanently damage the device, the Daily Mirror reports.

4K TV cleaning errors

Before starting to clean the 4K TV, it is recommended to disconnect it from the mains, because it is easier to see dirt on it.

“Avoid spraying directly onto the screen, as excess spray can get inside the TV and damage it,” said Dan Brown, operations director of Mitchell & Brown TVs in Bolton, UK.

“Residue can build up on the screen from using the wrong cleaning solutions, such as furniture or window cleaners, which can damage the screen over time.

Experts advise to read the labels of cleaning solutions before starting to wash our expensive TV with detergents.

“Always avoid exposing your TV screen to anything that contains alcohol, ammonia or acetone, chemicals often found in window cleaners,” added Brown.

You should also be careful what cloth you use when cleaning, as some of them can scratch the screen.

“Using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth, gently wipe the TV screen to remove grease, dirt and dust. “Microfiber is soft and delicate, so it’s best to avoid using any rough objects on the TV, such as paper towels, which can cause permanent visible scratches,” added Brown.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your TV isn’t like your smartphone or tablet because the screen is often made of plastic rather than glass.

“Make sure you choose a tablet screen cleaner, as tablets tend to have glass screens and can withstand harsher chemicals, unlike the more delicate plastic TV screens,” he added.

Use a vacuum cleaner set to minimum power with a soft brush attachment to clean the dust from the ports where the cable plugs connect.

The remote control can also be easily wiped with antibacterial disinfectant wipes to get rid of germs.

It is a good idea to remove the batteries before this procedure and put them back in after the remote control is completely dry. (photo source DreamsTime)
