Russia will return to full compliance with the New SNO Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms) if Washington abandons its “hostile position” towards Moscow, Russia Press service reports with reference to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Ryabkov.

Earlier this week, the United States announced it would stop providing Russia with certain communications required under the treaty, including updates on the location of missiles and their launchers, in response to Moscow’s “persistent violations” of the agreement.

According to Serhii Ryabkov, this statement did not come as a surprise to Moscow, and Russia’s decision to suspend the new SNO treaty remains in force, despite any countermeasures.

“Regardless of any measures or countermeasures by the US, our decision to suspend the SNO treaty is unwavering,” he said, as quoted by the TASS news agency.

“And our own condition for returning to a fully operational treaty is that the US abandons its fundamentally hostile stance toward Russia,” Ryabkov also said, according to Reuters and Agerpres on Saturday.
