​FC Craiova 1948 fought until the last moment for a place in the preliminary tournament of the UEFA Conference League, but lost the playoff final to CFR Cluj (1:0) at the end of the match, which ended after 120 minutes.

Joao Janeiro, replacing Nicolo Napoli in Craiova

Nicolo Napoli did not renew his contract with FC Craiova 1948 this summer after he said he wanted to try a new challenge.

Therefore, the team under the patronage of Adrian Mititelu had to look for a solution and on Saturday they introduced a new coach of the team.

41-year-old Joao Janeiro became the new technician of FC Kraiova 1948.

In the past, he also coached Kova Piedade B, FC Rafnex, Szeged, Kisvard, Danube Streda and Debrecen.

“I want to thank Mr. Mititel for his trust, this is a well-organized club, the conditions are extraordinary. After careful analysis I believe this is a club worth working for and I am very proud to represent these colours. I knew everything about Romania. I have Romanian friends in Portugal that I have been in touch with.

I know Romanian football well. I met with Romanian teams in friendly matches, visited Romania several times. It is interesting that 6-7 teams fight for the title season after season. Here, many teams are fighting for the playoffs.

In Cluj I saw a team that fought a lot, but what the team can’t control, they can’t control. I don’t want to mention too many things about arbitration.

I will not comment further. There, “Krayova” played decently, if we go to the tactical part, then “Krayova” had its chances, but 3 results are possible. Cluj will represent Romania and I wish them success, but that’s not my job right now.
