More than 161 kilos of cocaine seized by the Police of the Department of General Affairs of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Narcotics of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki in cooperation with local and international authorities.

Huge amount of drugs was found in special caches of cargo boxes (containers) that transported bananas and arrived in Greece from Latin America water transport and is a continuation of the previous case, in which 14 people were arrested for transporting more than 104 kg of cocaine.

An ongoing investigation by police officers of the General Affairs Department of the Thessaloniki Narcotics Subdivision and cooperation with local and international authorities led to the discovery and seizure of a very large amount of cocaine, which was supposed to be shipped to Greek territory. but also in European cities.

Recall that at the beginning of May this year a multi-member criminal organization was liquidated and 10 people were arrested in our country and 4 people in North Macedoniamore than 104 kilograms 600 grams of cocaine were seized, which they hid and smuggled out through banana containers.

From a further investigation carried out by the police officers of the aforementioned Service in cooperation with the Athens Branch of the Anti-Narcotics Authority, the authorities of North Macedonia, the Customs of Piraeus and Thessaloniki, the Regional Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Thessaloniki Central Port Authority and the Center for Police Cooperation South East Europe, it turned out that two more containers with bananas would arrive at the port of Piraeus, where shipments of cocaine would be hidden.

The boxes with the goods in question were seized and taken to the port of Thessaloniki, where, during the investigation conducted yesterday Friday (06.02.02), they were found in special caches. 100 packages of cocaine with a total weight of 161 kilograms 23 grams.

According to EL.AS., members of the organization they used a new cover-up method to transport drugsduring which they were placed in special crypts of containers and for this reason, only a few hours of work were carried out in the cocaine export containers.

The expected benefit from the importation and sale of seized cocaine is minimal. in the amount of 3,200,000 euros.
