A 28-year-old man hit several cars in traffic with a metal pipe on Friday night in Baia Mare, destroying the windshield of a special police car. One of the agents who came to calm him down had to fire a warning shot in the air to stop the aggressor. He was taken to the Sziget-Marmatsia Psychiatric Hospital.

The incident happened on Friday evening, when the police in Baia Mare was called at number 112 by a 38-year-old resident of the municipality that another man broke the window of his car and hit cars in traffic, according to News .ro.

Police officers who arrived there found someone who was behaving aggressively.

“When the police called a man in the middle of the street with a metal pipe in his hand to drop the pipe and show civilized behavior, he smashed the windshield of the police car with the pipe. After what happened, one of the police officers fired a vertical warning shot, after which the man was immobilized and taken to the police headquarters for questioning,” said the Maramures District Police Inspectorate.

A 28-year-old man from Baia Mare was taken to the psychiatric hospital of Sighetu-Marmatia.

Based on this fact, the police opened criminal proceedings and are continuing the investigation under the article of insult, violation of public order and peace, and hooliganism.
