Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz are the final two players through to the third round at Roland Garros on Thursday, a day after Yannick Sinner unexpectedly crashed out of the event.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev, ranked 27th in the world, needed three sets and almost two hours of play to reach the next round after defeating Slovakia’s Alex Molkan (86 ATP) 6-4, 6-2, 6-1.

Zverev’s next opponent is the tournament favorite at number 12, the American Francis Tiafoe.

And Taylor Fritz (8 ATP) advanced to the next round after four sets ahead of French Arthur Rinderknech (78 ATP) with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

In the third round, Fritz will fight for a place in the 1/8 finals with the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo (23 ATP).

The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
