A video of the rescue of two young people missing off the coast of Hersonissos was published by the Coast Guard.
Two young people, a 23-year-old Greek and a 23-year-old foreigner, were seen shortly after 7:30 am.
An alert to their whereabouts was raised Wednesday evening when the Coast Guard was alerted that the boat was missing. Two young people, according to the Coast Guard, were trying to get to the island, which is located 7 nautical miles from land.
The investigation was immediately launched by three Coast Guard patrol boats, a Greek Rescue Group vessel and passing vessels. Three Coast Guard patrol vehicles attempted to carry out the attack from land, and an Air Force helicopter also took off.
In the morning, the boat was spotted by a Coast Guard patrol boat northeast of Heraklion Airport. The invaders were in good health.
The two young people were transported safely to the port of Heraklion, from where they were transported by EKAB ambulance to Venizelio General Hospital in Heraklion for a medical examination.
The Heraklion Central Port Authority initiated the process of imposing the prescribed administrative sanctions and bringing charges against those responsible.
