However, not all beaches are suitable for swimmingas it is the result of sampling, measurements and identification of microbes on the beaches, free and controlled, by the Panhellenic Center for Environmental Research (PAKOE).
Scientists from the Center for Ecological Research have published a summary list of samples and results of microbial analyzes of sea water from the beaches of Piraeus, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Glyfada and Alimos.
There are seven unsuitable beaches and the following:
- Piraeus. Freatida beach. Coast of Themistocles
- Piraeus. Freatida beach. In the middle of the beach. Association of Greek divers.
- Piraeus. Votsalakia beach. Olympic winter swimming team
- Piraeus. Votsalakia beach. 100 meters left from a group of walruses.
- Paleo Faliro. Flisvos beach. end of the beach
- Municipality of Glyfada. Glyfada beach. Akti B. Maros and Diadochos Pavlos streets. Delfinia restaurant. Customer parking
- Municipality of Glyfada. Glyfada beach. Shore S. End of the beach.
It is noted that in 2023, sampling in Attica began on May 2 and ended on May 6, while for the rest of the country they began on May 8 and ended on May 18.
