In Kyiv, an investigation is underway into the fact that three people tried to enter the shelter, but it was closed. A little girl, her mother and another woman were killed on Thursday during a Russian missile attack on Kyiv, according to Reuters.
Ukraine’s air force said air defenses shot down all 10 Iskander cruise and ballistic missiles fired by Russia during its 18th attack on the capital since early May.
But the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko said that three schools, a kindergarten, six residential buildings and a police station were damaged. He did not specify the main objects of the attack, but the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that energy objects were not damaged.
The law enforcement officers informed about the three dead, including a nine-year-old girl and her mother, and opened a criminal investigation into the events near the medical clinic in the Desnyan district.
“Last day, three people died near the clinic, including a child,” Klitschko said.
“A fragment of a missile fell at the entrance to the clinic four minutes after the air alert was announced. And people went to the shelter.”
The airstrip was closed
Witnesses claim that people could not get into the shelter because it was closed.
“There was an air raid alarm. My wife took our daughter, and they ran to the entrance here,” Yaroslav Ryabchuk, a resident of the Desnyan district, told Reuters.
“The entrance was closed, maybe five to ten women with children were already there. No one opened them. They hit pretty hard.”
“They tried to enter the shelter, but no one opened the door for them. My wife is dead,” he said.
