
The unemployment rate (the share of unemployed people in the labor force) was 5.6% in April, up 0.1 percentage point from March 2023, the National Institute of Statistics reported on Wednesday.
The number of unemployed people (aged 15-74), according to estimates for April 2023, was 461,100 people:
- – an increase compared to the previous month (454.1 thousand people);
- – increased compared to the corresponding period last year (454 thousand people).
By gender, the unemployment rate among men exceeded the unemployment rate among women by 1.1 percentage points. (6.1% for men and 5.0% for women).
The high unemployment rate of 21.7% among young people (ages 15-24) continues to attract attention, says the INS press release.
