The activities of the astute ones who are “active” in electronic scams targeting the bank accounts of unsuspecting citizens continue indefatigably.
One of the scams that has “bloomed” in recent months concerns fraudulent emails sent to citizens demanding tax refunds from the tax office. These are also true messages. they are accompanied by the Gov.gr logo and have the same structure as the original ones. as a result, they create the feeling that it is real, with all the ensuing consequences for the safety of users.
Literally today, on Tuesday, a young resident of Kallithea received a corresponding message, which informed her that she was entitled to a tax refund of EUR 634.13.
Specifically, the message said, among other things: “I am writing to inform you that the Greek tax office has calculated your tax return and you are entitled to a tax refund of €634.13. Please click on the link below to verify your details so we can begin processing your return. This is necessary in order for the refund to be made to the correct account.”
By clicking on the link above the user gets to another page where scammers ask him to choose the bank with which he cooperates in order, in the end, to ask him for his bank codes in order to gain access to them.
What should citizens pay attention to when they receive such messages? sender’s email address because although the message appears to be from a government agency, the email address “gives away” that it is a scam.
Warnings from EL.AS. and AADE
From EL.AS. sound the alarm warning citizens not to follow the link under any circumstances included in the email and do not register your details, as neither banks nor government agencies ever ask for bank codes.
AADE issued the same warning a few months ago, stating:
“Please be aware that malicious misleading e-mail activities continue to falsify the logos of the One Digital Portal gov.gr saying that the tax office is informing you that you are eligible for a tax refund and urging you » click ” to submit a return request. Once again, we pay your special attention, as this is an attempt to deceive by falsifying the image and information.
For your protection:
DO NOT select any suggested link
DO NOT open any attachments in the message
Delete the message IMMEDIATELY as it is fake and contains malicious content.”
