Adrian Cachiu provided a number of figures in the press release, but got confused by them when looking at Lucian Heyusch’s response on Facebook.

“I respectfully draw the attention of Mr. Adrian Cachiu that an error crept into your statement. The collection program is a net 156.9 billion lei, and the statement he is talking about is a gross statement of 159.3 billion lei (reimbursements are deducted from this VAT, 2nd level of pensions, energy transition fund, health care contributions, etc. in total 16 .7 billion lei) and 142.6 billion lei remain net declared,” Geius said.

According to him, ANAF collected 148 billion lei, which is 5.5 billion more than the total declared net amount.

Adrian Cachiu stated on Tuesday that: “For the first 5 months of 2023, taxpayers declared taxes and duties amounting to 159.3 billion lei, in the context of budget programming, estimating the revenue at only 156.9 billion lei. Thus, Romanian taxpayers said that they have to pay 2.4 billion lei more than we estimated in the graph, – notes Caciu. However, the amounts actually collected by ANAF were 8.9 billion lei lower than the program and 11.3 billion lei lower than declared.

It will be recalled that Lucian Heyush resigned from the position of ANAF president.
