
The Port Authority of Perama proceeded to arrest four people after yesterday’s industrial accident that occurred in the ship repair area of Peramaas a result, one person died and two others were seriously injured.
This is the captain of the ship, the safety technician – supervision of labor protection and safety, the employer of the crane car operator and the representative of the company that carried out the repair work.
The incident occurred when, during operations to extract the wing using a truck crane from a ship being repaired it was ejected and disconnected from the transport hook and then fell onto the existing scaffolding. in which four people worked, as a result of which a 47-year-old truck crane operator was injured, as well as a 47-year-old and a 43-year-old man.
The 47-year-old crane operator was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. One of the wounded is being treated at the ZANEIO hospital, the other is being treated at a private hospital.
The Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Theodoros Kliaris was informed of the incident and ordered an immediate investigation into the causes and circumstances of the accident.
At the same time, he contacted the relatives of the deceased, expressing warm and sincere condolences, as well as regret over what had happened, wishing a speedy recovery to the victims.
