On Monday evening, the unions announced via a press release that they would begin street protests, after which they would take further response and protest measures, depending on how the situation develops.

Trade unions complain about “an unprecedented shortage of personnel in the Police Department, when for the first time there were 0.57 candidates for a place in police schools after the knowledge test stage.”

Unions also argue that the medical examinations will further reduce the number of candidates remaining in the election.

“Therefore, after consultation with the 74 SNPPC organizations in the country (Police, Border Police and Immigration Police), the SNPPC decided to organize a trade union movement with 2 main demands:

  • 1. Full application of Law 153/2017 for the entire professional family of defense, public order and national security, starting from 01.07.2023.
  • 2. Withdrawal of Law 223/2015 from the PNRR. We do not agree with the amendments proposed to Law 223/2015 in the Senate, nor with the new amendments proposed in the Chamber of Deputies,” the trade unions also sent.

Trade unions announce protests near the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor on June 6, 7 and 8, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The demonstrations will be extended to the Government, the European Commission (headquarters in Bucharest) and the Chamber of Deputies.

“We draw the attention of the governors that, if our requests are not resolved, we will proceed to mass protest actions, including blocking the system,” the trade unions also appealed. (News.ro)
