Gentlemen, start your engines! Classic car enthusiasts and friends of Breitling enthusiastically welcomed a trio of chronographs in 2021 inspired by many of the historic vehicles of American culture: the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette and Shelby Cobra. They featured a nice vintage design and bold dial colors of green, red and navy blue respectively. Their success was so great that two years later the Swiss company returned, adding a fourth member to this unconventional company.
Inspired by another iconic car from the 1950s, the Ford Thunderbird convertible with prominent rear fenders, the new watch features a red strap and an all-white dial with red chronograph hands and the distinctive turquoise Thunderbird logo.

But the good things don’t end there. All four chronographs now house the high-performance Breitling Caliber 01 “engine” in their magnificent chassis. With a 70-hour power reserve, COSC chronometer certification and a 5-year warranty, the B01 was first launched on the market in 2009 and is one of the most remarkable chronograph movements on the market today.
It has been designed to provide the highest levels of accuracy, reliability and functionality and has been extensively tested in terms of setup, button operation and shock and vibration resistance. It can be admired from the transparent sapphire crystal that covers the case back.
James Bond’s Choice
The 1960s were a decade of experimentation, fun, freedom and energy. Life rushed by at high speeds, sometimes in the saddle of a motorcycle, sometimes in the seats of a sports car. In this environment, Top Time was born, an avant-garde chronograph that epitomized action and bore the signature of Willy Breitling. He quickly captivated motorists and trendsetters, he was loved by both men and women, and thanks to his striking appearance, he starred in magazines and films. A memorable moment was his appearance on the wrist of Sean Connery, who plays 007, in the film thunder ball in 1965.
“Top Time was an escape from traditional watch design for a generation that did away with convention in every way,” Breitling CEO Georges Kern explains today. “In the 1960s-inspired Top Time Classic Cars collection, we are looking for that spirit of freedom and joy, and we are delighted to be working with Ford once again to introduce the new Thunderbird along with updated versions of the Ford Mustang Chronograph. , Chevrolet Corvette and Shelby Cobra”.
All Breitling Top Time Classic Cars have a steel case with a diameter of 41 mm, water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters. Their dials feature a wide peripheral ring with a tachymeter scale and square subdials, inspired by classic car dashboards.
In the same “racing” spirit and perforated leather belts, inspired by the seats of historical racing cars.
