A building in Bucharest can be strengthened with an innovative method using an exoskeleton
A building in Bucharest can be strengthened with an innovative exoskeleton method that will allow work to be carried out without the need to move tenants. AMCCRS Executive Director Rezvan Munteanu told Agerpres that Bucharest was chosen along with Avellino and Amsterdam to implement this solution under the Horizon Europe 2021-2027 programme.
He noted that the funding is non-refundable and AMCCRS is entitled to an amount of €568,000 covering the design and execution works in the building on Intrarea Văcăreşti Street. Multicare’s building intervention involves the creation of an exoskeleton of low-carbon materials (wooden panels designed in multiple layers) to be applied to the building.
The exoskeleton will be covered with a material called “multi-functional skin”, which will be connected by movable joints to the wooden panels and will provide improved thermal efficiency. Integrated photovoltaic cladding will be used on the most irradiated facades.
