The red carpet at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival was once again used to protest the war launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin in February 2022, although such political demonstrations are banned.
Ukrainian model Alina Baikova was detained by the police after she appeared on the red carpet and showed that she was wearing a long yellow T-shirt with the inscription “F.ck you, Putin” in blue letters under a beige trench coat.
Later, the 34-year-old girl wrote on her Instagram that this is “proof of real support for Ukraine! I was arrested and asked to leave the red carpet.”

Alina Baikova stated that she would have been left alone if she had appeared in a trench coat so that a T-shirt with an obscene inscription could not be seen.
“We want to continue living in peace. But we can’t! Russians kill my compatriots every day! They just celebrated the liberation of Bakhmut, they killed everyone there and completely wiped the city off the face of the earth. From whom and for what was he released? Why do we have to suffer so much? Russians should leave our land! We are a free and democratic country, I don’t want to be under their control! We will not stop!”, Alina explained the gesture made in Paris.
Iranian model Mahlagh Jaberi, who wore a black dress with a rope around her neck as a sign of protest, blamed the regime in Tehran, according to The Persian Magazine.
