The birth of a new art space is always an extremely joyful affair. In addition to giving Greek artists another step to present their work, the opening of the gallery speaks volumes about the economy and that things are going well. Moreover, during the crisis, many historical galleries were closed, and the art trade was limited to those who sold acquisitions or liquidated collections. Today the situation is different and in this optimistic climate a few days ago Artworx opened its doors, an elegant and welcoming new space in the heart of Kifisia. Behind its creation is a very dynamic mother-daughter duo, armed with aesthetics and expertise in the field. Maria Xanthakou — partner of the late artist Pavlos Samiou — and her daughter Isabella Francis have joined forces and offer a roof for fine art and design in a geographic area of Athens where galleries are rare. There was a reserve, which until now no one was in a hurry to cover.

The first exhibition is called “Hidden Colors” and is aimed at revealing to the viewer the secrets of color, tones, and various expressions. In total, this exhibition is accompanied by eight visual artists, which also includes an honorary presentation of the work of Pavlos Samios. Angelos Antonopoulos refers to Hieronymus Bosch with dynamic plexiglass portraits, and with his Little Hero sculpture, he glorifies the Greek Revolution. Lydia Venieri, representing Greek art in New York, invites us to decipher her Orphic symbols. Erietta Bordoni, with her dreamy works in pastel colors, takes us on a journey to worlds where harmony and peace reign.

Cosmopolitan Marion Inglesi playfully creates a bell tower, donates stones with sexual references and an engraving of a greeting. Next to them, Aphrodite Litti, one of the finest Greek sculptors, transports iridescent, bright, colorful butterflies, made by her tireless hands, into a new space. David Benforado presents layered works that play with light. Konstantinos Patsios skillfully combines painting, graphics and collage with ingenuity and humor. Always inspired by Cythera or literature, Manolis Charos creates triptychs that highlight the poetic use of color. Artworx also honors jewelry designers with works by Paulina Ellis, Maria Mastori-Costas Argyriou, Maria Sozu and original perspex sculptures from SO8. We wish the right hand!
