On Thursday evening, sports fans from Timișoara gathered at Piaţa Unirii wearing white-purple, red-yellow or cherry t-shirts and demanded the construction of sports facilities, a new stadium or a multi-purpose hall.
Children from the Politehnica, Ripensia, CFR and Galaxy Timisoara clubs were the first to arrive at the protest, as well as representatives of the basketball and rugby teams, as well as athletes from the commune of Giroc near Timisoara.
Among those present were the current coach of Brasov, Dan Aleksa, or former footballers Octavian Popescu or Christian Scutaru.
The protestors then left Unification Square in the direction of Victory Square, where they unfurled banners with messages such as: “Timisoara is anti-system, NOT anti-performance” or “Timisoara people want infrastructure, NOT just on paper or by word of mouth.” .
From Piaţa Victoriei, fans and athletes marched to Timișoara City Hall and then to the headquarters of the Timiş County Council.
The action was organized by the Druckeria Timişoreni Fans Association, which sent a document to the Timişoara City Hall, the Timiș County Council and the Timiş Parliament members with specific questions and ideas on how to raise the level of sports in the city, News reported. ro.
