The Legion of Freedom for Russia — the group that claimed responsibility for the apparent incursion into Russian territory in Belgorod — released a video late Monday that appears to show a so-called Free Russia flag flying over Moscow State University, CNN reported.
Video of the incident, for which the Legion has not directly claimed responsibility, shows several balloons raising a blue and white striped flag over the university’s main building.
“Thanks to those who support and wait for us!” – reads the signature of the “Legion of Freedom of Russia” in Telegram. “IT” [Legiunea] for Russia! For freedom!”
Other videos released by the Legion of Freedom for Russia appear to show a different Russian opposition flag being flown over various areas of Moscow on blue and white balloons.
The blue and white flag was used by several Russian anti-Putin opposition groups and became more widely used after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Fighters of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) announced that they had crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border for the third time, the BBC reports. Russian and Ukrainian channels talk about an attack on the border with Ukraine by a “Ukrainian tank”. The regional authorities initially declared that they had suffered an “informational attack”, then adopted the narratives of Russian channels.
