OUR Martin Scorsese was found on Saturday Cannes Film Festival to the premiere of his long-awaited film”Flower Moon Assassins“, which the audience met in the hall with a storm of applause lasting 9 minutes.
The film takes place in 1920s Oklahoma, where the Osage tribe became rich thanks to oil discovered on their land and they began to be killed one by one. In an attempt to find the killers, the police will launch a massive investigation. These horrific murders have gone down in history as the State of Terror.
Scorsese’s latest film project – starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone and Robert De Niro – is also the most ambitious of the director’s career. It is an adaptation of David Grann’s 2017 book The Flower Moon Killers: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI and is about three and a half hours long.
According to El Pais, the film cost Apple $200 million to make.
“We shot the movie two years ago in Oklahoma. It took a while, but Apple handled it so well,” Scorsese said, addressing the audience after the screening. “There were a lot of herbs. I’m a New Yorker.”

Many stars came to the red carpet. Participants included Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek, Isabelle Huppert, Paul Dano and Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Although Grann’s book has many possible plot twists, Scorsese and Eric Roth focus on Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio, in his seventh collaboration with Scorsese), a World War II veteran who falls in love with Molly Brown (Gladstone), a member of a wealthy Osage family.
Since the discovery of oil reserves on their land, the Osage were at that time the richest people in the country. But this wealth is under the close control of others. A series of murders by greedy assassins has caused panic in the tribe.
And if in the book several pages are devoted to the connections between the cases and the “birth” of the FBI department, then in the Scorsese film, not much attention is paid to the investigations around the murders.

The film is expected to be released in Greece in October 2023 by Feelgood Entertainment.
