Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Monday that the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Japan did not take place due to Zelensky’s lateness, Reuters reports.
“We had a bilateral meeting with Ukraine here, in this hall, at 3:15 p.m. I waited and received information that it was too late,” said Lula.
Zelensky “didn’t show up… It’s clear that he had meetings and couldn’t come,” Lula said.
Previously, Zelensky downplayed the fact that he had not met Lula.
“I think he was disappointed,” Zelenskyy said, referring to Lula, after an attempt to meet between them failed, according to Brazilian publication G1.
The President of Ukraine demanded a bilateral meeting with his Brazilian counterpart during the G7 summit in Japan, but the meeting did not take place due to the “inconsistency of the agenda” of the two heads of state.
