Labor Minister Marius Budai said on Antena 3 on Saturday about the negotiations with the education unions that he does not think the decision lies only with him, but with the entire coalition. Answering the question whether he will meet the teachers with a salary increase, the minister said that they do not go to negotiations with already known conclusions and lines.

“I’m at a very sensitive time when I’m thinking about three million children and about 300,000 people in the education system, and I think that’s above any argument about one or the other. (…) The decision and what Marcel Čolaku decided to interrupt any discussion, any political negotiations, because (…) any public, political position in the government is much less important than the fate of more than three million children and we must leave these discussions aside, and out of respect for the teachers and the desire to solve this problem, tomorrow I will be in Bucharest, I will be present at these discussions,” said Marius Budai in an intervention on Antena 3, according to News. ro.

The minister referred to the teachers’ strike, saying: “I don’t think the decision lies with me alone, I think the decision lies with the whole coalition.”

“If the decision was only for me and my colleagues, that I am not working on this law myself (…), then I guarantee you that in a month, maximum two, I would close this topic and I hope to do it, but here we are not only talking about the law, we are talking about funding, about many other things, and we are also talking about the fact that if this PNRR was written in secret, I have the approval of the PSD president. and the party not to carry out secret reform,” he told Buds.

The Minister of Labor specified that he held discussions with all ministries and already receives part of the requests from those in the system and sends them to the World Bank.

“We are waiting for the impact analyses, then we will centralize them and continue the discussion. The law on wages is part of request No. 4, we are not yet closed with request No. 2. (…) Whatever decision the coalition makes regarding the regulations, I am a person who worked on the ground (…) and I will fulfill my duties.”

Asked whether he would go to teachers tomorrow (Sunday, no) with a pay rise, Minister Marius Budai said: “The Minister of Labor does not need to answer now, without this transparent discussion tomorrow.”

“We are not going to negotiations and discussion within the framework of an honest social dialogue with conclusions and lines already known from this moment,” Budai also confirmed.
