On Saturday, on national roads 2 and 3 and on Pipera boulevard, in the Voluntari and Pantelimon districts, a large-scale action of the traffic police from Ilfov and the Metropolitan Road Brigade is being held. In just a few hours, nearly 100 drivers were caught speeding, in one case a driver who was driving 181 kilometers per hour on a stretch of road where the maximum speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour.

“Between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., several violations were detected, for which traffic police from Ilfov applied 161 illegal sanctions, according to GEO 195/2002, of which 96 were for non-observance of the legal speed limit. Therefore, drivers who exceeded the speed of more than 100 km/h were found. We give an example of the case of a driver who was found to be driving at a speed of 181 km per hour on a section of the road for which the speed limit is 80 km per hour,” said information provided to the public by Ilfov. The man in question was fined 1,305 lei and disqualified from driving for 120 days.

As part of the action, the purpose of which is to identify persons who do not observe the permitted speed regime, the traffic police of Ilfova detained 19 driver’s licenses, all for exceeding the permitted speed.

On Saturday evening, the traffic police from Ilfov are still present at the site to warn of the causes of the accident.
