Daniil Medvedev (3 ATP) reached the final of the Masters in Rome, defeating Greek Stephanos Tsitsipas (5 ATP) in the semifinals after two sets with the score 7-5, 7-5.

Russia’s Daniil Medvedev confirmed his remarkable run since 2023 with a sixth final appearance this year.

The former world number one started the first set well and led for much of it, but saw Tsitsipas level before the match was stopped for several hours due to rain.

After the restart, the third favorite of the tournament broke away and won the first set.

The second set unfolded according to a similar scenario, under the leadership of Medvedev, Tsitsipas leveled the situation and even led in the score 5-4, but lost with the same score as in the first set.

The game lasted one hour and 47 minutes.

In Sunday’s final, Daniil Medvedev will face Denmark’s Holger Roon, who defeated Kasper Ruud 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday.

This year, Medvedev won titles in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai and Miami and lost the final in Indian Wells.

The Rome Masters takes place from May 10 to 21 on clay, is part of the ATP 1000 category, has a total prize money of €7,705,780, Novak Djokovic is the reigning champion and Rafael Nadal holds the record for titles at the Italian Forum (10 ).
