The president of the Federation of Education Trade Unions “Spiru Haret” Marius Nistor says that the trade unions are ready to enter into a discussion with government representatives at any time, stressing, however, that the possible decision to abandon the general strike announced for Monday will not belong to any trade union leader. and exclusively to teachers who signed up for the strike.

“If our politicians, those who have the power to make decisions, decide to stop discussing what the government will look like and focus on the problems of the education system, then we can only follow any invitations that come to us from the Romanian government. , we look forward to this invitation and are ready for negotiations that will lead to de-escalation of the situation in the system.

We have shown our readiness, we are ready to start discussions at any time, it is up to the two political leaders, the one who is now the prime minister and the one who will be the prime minister, to determine the exact date and where exactly it will take place discussion.

At the moment, it is difficult to stop an action started by the will of the union members, for a very simple reason: it can only be stopped by the decision of those who decided to start it.

Therefore, only our colleagues, on the basis of a specific proposal, specific decisions proposed by the Government of Romania, can make a decision to stop the protest action. We want solutions to come as quickly as possible so that they are reliable solutions for our colleagues in the pre-university education system.

They must really believe that they will be implemented in practice, because we have quite a long experience of concluding agreements, commitments, some partially fulfilled, others not fulfilled and violated, as soon as the government changed,” Marius Nistor said on Saturday, under telephone intervention time on Digi 24.

“We don’t want a new maximum strike period”

When asked how long the protest would last, the union leader said he did not have an answer on the matter, stressing that the unions did not want to reach “a new maximum in terms of the duration of the strike”.

“We cannot be perceived as bad people who do not understand others. (…) Many parents also support us. We do not necessarily need the support of parents, but only their understanding. I understand that the inspectorates will communicate through the directors of educational units and class teachers, what is the situation, on Monday there are communications that can take place in WhatsApp groups.

We ask parents, if they receive information about how the strike is going on in educational institutions, not to force their children to go to school,” added Marius Nistor.

PSD leader Marcel Çolaku said any talks on the future of the Cabinet should be suspended until the demands of the trade unions, as well as major arrears on the reform of special pensions, which they consider a priority, are resolved.
