“The peculiarity of peeping is that even when people live in highly urbanized areas and have no connection with nature, they associate birdsong with a living and untouched natural environment” explains Emil Stobbe, PhD student in environmental neuroscience at the Institute Max Planck on Human Development and the author of one of the studies.
In fact, research has shown that listening to recorded chirping, even with headphones, can reduce negative emotions.
