The mayor of Sector 2, Radu Mihaiu, once again appealed to the capital’s mayor, Nikušor Dan, with a request to grant permits for clearing trees in Bucharest, which may pose a danger to people in the context of the storm, writes News.ro. The mayor clarifies that there are 1,624 appeals on this matter, and “all these dangerous trees fall one after another with every storm.”
“With every storm, serious or not, the internal alarm goes off. We don’t know if one tree will fall, two or ten. We don’t know if we will have material damage or, God forbid, someone will get hurt. The teams are waiting and the race through the city to clean up fallen trees begins. Now the wind is blowing quite strongly, four large trees have already fallen and we have significant material damage. Several cars were damaged. All of them had a request for a logging permit. These incidents could have been prevented,” Radu Mihaiu wrote in a Facebook post, also presenting an image of the trees felled on Friday.
The Mayor of USR Sector 2 is again asking the Mayor General to issue a Deforestation Notice.
“We have 1,624 requests and all these dangerous trees are coming down one by one with every storm,” says Mihayu.
