Mykonos: The municipality did not issue licenses to Nammos

The Cyclades Regional Tourism Authority (PYT) is responsible for the cancellation of Nammos permits. Municipality Mykonos met yesterday and found that the municipality has not issued any permits and therefore cannot impose fines. In the meantime, the Nammos side has filed a new motion for a stay with the Athens Court of Appeal asking that the demolition order not be enforced until the main appeal has been heard, while it prepares a legal counterattack in case the permits are finally revoked.

As mandated by the Ministry of the Environment, the Quality of Life Committee of the Municipality of Mykonos met today to suspend the operating licenses for the entire Nammos complex. However, in the end there was no result, since it turned out that permits were issued through the Ministry of Tourism or other services.

“The municipality of Mykonos has always demanded that the state enforce laws and formulate rules at all levels,” Mykonos Mayor Kostas Kukas told K. “For our part, within the framework of our duties, we act seriously, directly and responsibly. In this context, and in connection with the document we received yesterday afternoon from the General Secretary of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment regarding the suspension of the license to operate Nammos, we inform you that the only shop operating license issued by the municipality in 2015 was withdrawn in 2021, and therefore we are deprived of the possibility of imposing sanctions.”

However, the Nammos side has already launched a counterattack, given that the sealing request concerns not only the two buildings in which violations were found, but all activities in Psarou (Nammos Village shopping center, Nammos restaurant, etc.). Representatives of the company filed a motion with the Athens Court of Appeal this morning to set aside yesterday’s decision (which rejected their motion to “freeze” the demolition process pending the main appeal).

As a new element, the company cites a request filed yesterday with the Hellenic Chamber of Technology to appoint an expert to review claims of “fit” for the two buildings (Nummos’ side claims the buildings have not “grown” since they were announced, as environmental inspectors claim) . And, of course, she waits for the sealing events to determine her next steps.

It should be noted, however, that the Ministry of the Environment has not yet asked the Syros Construction Service to inspect or recall the “settlements” of either Nammos or Principot. It also did not require the appointment of a private building inspector to confirm that the two companies were voluntarily demolished.
